Why does curly hair take longer to grow?

anyways, I have a hair regimen. I brush my hair in a braided bun and wrap it up with a scarf every night. I wash my hair with herbal shampoo( it has things like indian hemp, aloe vera,, jojoba oil etc, st. John's wort), then use garner fructis curl and shine conditioner, then rinse that out and use herbal hair food for the end. Split Ends are cut between 7 weeks. I have been doing this since Jun. So, far, I haven't have any growth, WELL I CAN'T TELL IF IT GREW? what's the best way to see if it did? I TRIED MEASURING IT WITH A TAPE MEASURE AND IT'S DIFFERENT. No, not the metal clip tape measure for house and tools things.

P.S. I'm HALF Iroquis(native american) if it helps!

I am happy that your hair is virgin, That is a good start my daughter's hair is also virgin and here is what I do like every 6 months I would like to see the actual length I would hot comb it or either give her a wash and set. The heat that is coming from the blow dryer will make her have that straight look without really straighting it. The herbal shampoo that you are useing should work if you have been useing any product for three months and you see no results then stop useing that product because it may not be for your hair's texture. Regardless to which ever product that we use on the market it will not give us the requried length that you are looking for,and here is why when we eat food there are good proteins and bad protein and the bad ones can do things to our hair like make our hair grow slower than it normally would. This bad protein is called DHT and it is in everyone and that is what stops our growth. Here is your solution you can use a protein treatment called Aphogee and sit under the dyer with it. Start to get wash and sets once a week because a real beautican is suppose to know how to wash and set virgin hair and still make her hair look nice. Use this product and don't wash it out until you go and get your wrap let them use the shampoo and use the rest as directed but don't wash your hair every day. This may be a little expensive but it is worth it and you will see results in two weeks. This is the name of the product it is called Avacore and the other one is called Hairgenesis. I hope that I have helped you. oh and do not cut your hair but only once a year because you should not have split ends because you don't do nothing wrong to your hair.

Why does curly hair take longer to grow?

It doesn't grow any slower, it just seems like it since it isn't growing straight out. Shortest distance between two points is a straight line.

Why does curly hair take longer to grow?

no your hair does grow I'm a hairdresser I've been for 17 1/2 years and you see your hair everyday you don't think that your hair doesn't grow but actually it grows at least 1/2 to 1 inch an month cause you hair is probably curly , like mine but I color mine red so I know that it grows cause my roots start to show

I hope that I was help-full in anyway....

Why does curly hair take longer to grow?

well, i don't know, but different hair grows at different paces. my hair is board straight and it barley grows at all! so, i don't know.

Why does curly hair take longer to grow?

If you wear it straight once in a while you will get the look of longer hair...just for a change.

Why does curly hair take longer to grow?

you can't tell if your hair grew because it is in fact so curly. It probably doesn't look like it's growing but I'll bet it is! You have virgin hair so you can't see a line of demarcation anywhere to prove that your hair is growing. Be patient, your probably anxious so it won't seem to be growing as fast as you want.

Your clipping your ends too often. You only need to clip your ends maybe 3 or 4 times per year. June isn't that long ago and on average a persons hair only grows about 6-8 inches per year no matter what regimen you use. If you have only been trying to grow your hair longer for 2 months your hair growth will only be about 1/2 inch, but with the clipping of the ends you've basically cut off your your visible hair growth.

Why does curly hair take longer to grow?

One reason might be that because its CURLY, you cant see the growth as well. If you striaghten out with a ceramic iron, you could see the length of your hair more easily.

Also, you said that you brush your hair into a bun every night, but maybe you should let it loose at night and just wrap a scarf around the edges to let your scalp breathe.

Also, Garnier fructus curl and shine products are very drying, it contains alcohol, so thats not the best conditioner. Find a deep conditioner like Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayonnaise that you can use once a week. Try not to wash your hair every day, thats drying for curly hair. And look for a product called Carol's Daughter, its formulated for your hair type and might be a better conditioning system.

You may also want to consider cutting your hair less.

Also, a balanced diet with fruit, vegetables, protein, and lots of water everyday, plus exercise to improve circulation, could promote hair growth.

If you still don't see hair growth, i reccomend these products by Hair Formula 37. I've been taking their vitamins for almost a montha and my hair has grown more than it typically would. their website is fasterhairgrowth.com

god luck :)

If you are blow drying it or flat ironing it at high temps, then you need to stop it. Using high temp styling tools can break off your hair, hence lack of "growth". Also I would deep condition as often as possible. For more info go to http://forum.blackhairmedia.com.

Why does curly hair take longer to grow?

Curly hair doesn't take longer to grow, it's just curly. You could straighten it to get the full length, try using a flatiron. But you should trim your ends every 6-8 weeks. Not a haircut but trim is recommended. Do you are on the right regimen. Continue. The main thing is not length but healthy hair, which you are on the right track. But since June, you won't see a great amount of growth. You need to be patient and keep doing what you are doing. Heredity has a lot to do with the length of your hair too. Let's not forget our DNA, so just be patient with your hair and keep it healthy. You don't want split ends so the trimming is great......... You can buy a styling comb from Sally's that has the inches marked on it, this is a way to measure your hair...........12 in a box for $2. Good Luck.........
