I'm 22 years old. Up until last May, I had a perfectly straight hairline. I always had my hair pretty short. Then, while I was in Afghanistan, I got shot in the leg. Ever since then my hair has been falling out at a very fast rate. If I brush my hair, the whole sink is full of hairs. This time next year, if this keeps up, I will have almost nothing left. My dad is 60 and he has all his hair. My brother is almost 40 and yes, he's lost some hair, but it's just a little worse then mine. Losing my hair this young and this fast is much more traumatizing than getting shot. I wouldn't mind losing it if I knew it was male pattern baldness. I just don't think it's supposed to happen this fast. Does anyone know if this is related to my gunshot wound? Thanks.
Why am I losing my hair so fast?
I think it could be alipicia. (spelling?)

I would not say that it is related to your gun shot wound, but a lot of times when you are on certain medications for a prolonged period of time can cause hair loss. Also, wearing hats, baseball caps- whatever can cause hair loss.
If it continues to get worse, I would consult a physician.
Good Luck.

The problem comes from your mothers side of the family too, keep that in mind.
