It's not that It's noticeable on my head or anything thank god!! but I am losing handfuls of hair in the shower....when I brush my hair etc... It's all over the house!! Any ideas what I can do to stop this from happening!!
Are there any women out there that lose ALOT of hair daily???
YES! My hair has been coming out in handfuls for several years now, I've got thick/fine hair (fine in consistency, but ALOT of it!), and am not even close to being bald. I've had my thyroid checked twice and most recently had an anemia test following a diagnosis of diabetes. Both were fine. I had read not too long ago that your shampoo or conditioner can sometimes cause hair damage/loss, which a nutritionist I met with recently confirmed, so I'm in the process of switching products, plus I use Garnier Length %26amp; Strength after I wash my hair. I have used Pantene for years, but apparently there is some dispute as to whether it coats your hair with waxes that can actually cause the hair to break at the roots, thus causing hair loss. I have been taking very good (and expensive) vitamins for several years now, so despite what everyone says about it being a "vitamin-deficiency" that is just simply not true. And yes, I deal with a certain good-sized amount of stress, but really doesn't everyone? To answer your question, I'm not sure what causes it. I won't tell you to "get used to it" because it drives me crazy leaving my DNA everywhere, too. But you might try switching shampoo/conditioner/styling products if you've used the same stuff for a long time and see if that helps any. Also, I'm going to try adding more gelatin to my diet to see if it helps any (which is good for your nails, too!). Good luck, Girl!

Why would you ask someone that?!

I am in there with you, girl! :-)
I don't think that we lose that much more hair than other people. It is just more noticable because our hair is longer.

My gf was worried also, she was advised that so long as she wasn't losing more than a brush full a day it's normal. Dont worry about it lying around - my gf went away once and they were actually nice little reminders of her! If you're worried get a 'Grab it' type dust collector - theyre great for picking up hair.

I know I'm not much help, but I've been dealing with this for years. I lose handfuls of hair every day, and shed like crazy. I just put it up in a ponytail or in a hat. The funny part is I haven't gone bald yet. I keep waiting to find that "spot", but it hasn't appeared yet, so I deffinately understand what you are talking about. Just accept it as something normal and live with it, I guess.

I had it happen after the birth of my second child and could actually pull gently on my hair and pull out a handfull (but I have a lot of hair so I never went bald). My doctor explained to me that it was probably hormonal and would get better. Eventually it did get better. You may need to get some blood work done because it could be you have low thyroid as well and need to take thyroid pills to increase your level.

My hair was the same way. I use to have beautiful long full hair. Than one day I started loosing it just the way you say. It was on my clothes, my boyfriends clothes, the shower was the worst. It started falling out so much that I actually began to get a bald spot on my head. I heard about Nioxen shampoo and conditioner. After 4 weeks my hair started growing in and my hair is healthier than ever. The down side is it is kinda expensive. I pay $90 for it. But it's great and well worth it.

I lose alot everyday also. My hair is VERY think and curly and it seems like it's falling out in piles all the time.
One reason I've been told,by my dr., it happens, is stress. Another reason you need a haircut. Seriously, if you haven't had one in awhile, dead ends will always guarantee you a handful of hair after brushing it.

a couple months after my baby was born this happened to me, and it lasted a long time! Eventually it just stops. Make sure you are eating enough and have a good diet.

Yeah that happens to me too but it seems to have been happening on and off for years and I still have an insane amount of hair so I stopped worrying even though it still freaks me out when I brush out a clump of hair.
If it starts to become noticable on your head then you should go to the doctor immediately. Mostly though it is healthy to lose hair. Your body is getting rid of dead cells. Hormones and heat can cause this. You know, shedding like a dog.
