Curly Hair problem?

First off, Im not usually the kind of girl who obsesses about her hair, but I'm really lost right now lol

Ok, so my hair randomly became super curly this past summer, but I didnt really care because I've been straightening my hair this whole time (bad, I KNOW). But now Im thinking of straightening my hair less, because I like my tight curls. BUT I have no idea how to keep them tight and curly, as opposed to wavy and frizzy!

After my hair dries from washing it, the curls are springy and defined, but when I wake up the next morning their frizzy, wavy, and all over the place!

Oh and my hair is THICK, so if I dont brush it, it becomes HUGE.

So basically Im asking:

1.How do I comb/brush my hair without losing my curls?

2.How do I prevent the effects of sleeping on my curls?

Curly Hair problem?

My hair is more on the wavy side, but I get a fair amount of frizz because I live in Hawaii which can be extremely humid. So what I do with my hair might be helpful to you. When I'm going to wear my hair wavy, I make sure I'm using a shampoo and conditioner for wavy hair or curls, since you need to prepare your hair for whatever style you're choosing, while in the shower. Ouidad is great, and Pantene makes a good one, and is cheaper. I always make sure to deep condition once a week. My hairdresser told me to take a nickel size of my conditioner (if your hair is shorter, you'll probably want a dime size) and work it through my hair, AFTER my final rinse. I don't towel dry my hair, but I blot with old t-shirts after squeezing out as much as I can. I use Jonathan Product Curl Serum and I run it through my hair. Then I use John Frieda Frizz Ease (I've used way more expensive products and nothing works like it). I use about a quarter size because my hair is long. I just work it through my hair, from where my ears are, down to the root. Then I blow dry with a diffuzer. I try to touch my hair as little as possible when I'm doing this so that I don't create frizz. I also try to concentrate some air at the root, because a lot of time curls can be limp at the crown and then almost create a pyramid look because they're fuller throughout the rest of the head. Not cute. After I'm done blow drying, I use John Frieda grooming cream (or maybe it's called glossing cream. You'll know what I mean when you see it at the store) and I use about a nickel size of the Frizz Ease serum again, to smoothe my hair out and make it shiny. Then I twist my hair up into a bun and leave it that way for about an hour, and when I let my hair down, I have amazing curls that stay that way for a while (like, more than a day.) If you want, you could actually use a curling iron to curl a few sections. This will create more definition and even if some sections turn a little limp and frizzy, the hair that you curled with retain the curl, and that will create a more more curly, less frizzy look. And then after I've let my hair down or curled it, I finish everything with some shine spray. I am using one from Frederick Fekkai. Your hair should look incredible if you follow these steps, and it should stay that way. Yes, I know that it's kind of a hassle, but curly and wavy hair does need to really be babied and worked with in order for it to look its most beautiful.

And what I do for my hair is that use a wide comb in the morning, and then twist it up until I need to leave the house. During the day, I finger comb. Then, at night, before bed, I brush it out, and I braid it. In the morning, my hair might be slightly less curly than before, but it's still smooth and pretty.

And one more thing, don't wash your hair more than three times a week, because you'll dry out and damage your hair. If you HAVE to wash it (lets say you worked out and just rinsing the hair won't cut it), use a very gentle shampoo, dilute it with water, and then wash it. Don't repeat. And make sure use some conditioner if you do that.

I hope I could help.

Curly Hair problem?

get a curl defining lotion

Curly Hair problem?

gel

Curly Hair problem?

... i can't really answer question 1. because to me.. it seems that if anyone with curly hair brushes it through.. it'll just make the curls look ... bad. .. for question 2. try showering in the morning... instead of the nite before... because then you don't sleep in them.. and they don't get all frizzy/ all over the place!

Curly Hair problem?

get an anti frizz shampoo or creme.

Curly Hair problem?

1. i dont know

2.wash your hair in the morning

Curly Hair problem?

1. Use a comb with wide teeth ( sticky out bits)

2. Sounds weird ... but it works. Get some old tights and tie your hair up in them ( high ) this should keep them normal.

From your pic your haiir looks b-e-a-utiful :)

Wish i had it

Hope ive helped x

Curly Hair problem?

In the morning, spend some time wetting, brushing, and blow drying your hair. To get tight curls, Comb it in the moring instead of brushing.

Curly Hair problem?

use a wide bristle comb or pick and try a night cap seems old fashioned I know but it works

Curly Hair problem?

ok heres what u do... you go to this health and beauty store called, Origins. then u by this thing called hair dresser... cuz i have that and it works perfectly for me!!!! just get some on ur hand and run it through your hair (when its dry)

Curly Hair problem?

1. do not brush that will just make it worse try using a pick

2. put ur hair up when you sleep your curls wont become as frizzy

hope this helps

Curly Hair problem?

Take a shower at nighttime and brush them out. when you wake up get your hair wet, brush it again then put mouse on our hand and scrunch your hair, it'll make it curly again.

Curly Hair problem?

You should never brush your curls. I have big hair too, but it will get very frizzy if you brush it.

I sometimes use the John Frieda "Secret Weapon" smoothing serum, I just put a drop in my hair before I go out and my frizz goes away.

As for sleeping on it though, I don't think there's any way to keep your curls from going a bit flat. I usually just shower in the morning to solve this problem.

Curly Hair problem?

use mousse (sp?) once you have brushed it, preferably when it is wet/damp, squirt some in your hand and scrunch it into your hair... this is a quick hold and it'll become better once its dry.

Curly Hair problem?

You have no choice but the brush your hair when its wet. Just to get the tangles out plus get the fallen hair out, and regulate ur blood circulation. After that u will have to rely on hair gel and hair spray totally to keep those tight curls and not her ur hair all frizzy. Deep condition regularly and oil em too.

Curly Hair problem?

i have the exact same problem....

all i use is herbal essence shampoo and conditioner for wavy curly hair...it keeps it nice and shiny...and also after that i use an Asian product called Livon it keeps my hair from becoming frizzy and puffy....

dont blow dry your hair much...

and come it with a round brush straight down and dont pull on it...at night to preventit form losing the curls...tie a braid...

hope this helps

:D

Curly Hair problem?

try running your fingers through your hair instead of actually brushing it as this is gonna wreck your curls and make them realy really frizzy.

its old fashioned but people used to wear hair nets to bed to preotect their hairstyles, if that doesnt work jus rub some gel onto your hands and smooth through your hair reshaping your curls.

Curly Hair problem?

i have excatly the same problem. your best bet is not brushing your hair with a comb/brush at all. i know it seems gross but if you use your fingers to comb your hair then they stay in that excact shape and don't get all frizzy. also try putting in leave in conditioner right after you get out of the shower. it'll help the curls retain their shape. and for your sleeping problem, i would invest in a satin pillowcase. regular cotton ones suck out the moisture which is the last thing you want. satin ones are perfect and keep your hair nice and soft.

hope this helps!!!

Curly Hair problem?

1.use a round brush

2.still sleep on them but in the A.M. use a curler

Curly Hair problem?

You need to embrace the type of hair you have. You should buy a wig brush to comb your hair. You should wrap up your hair. You could also try the wear-ed curl look.

Curly Hair problem?

Well one thing you could do is shower in the mornings, and use leave in conditioner. But since that may be a hassle, use a wide toothed comb and use this: http://tigihaircare.us/tigi/bedhead/arch... It should work pretty well for what you're looking for.

:)

Curly Hair problem?

you CANNOT brush curly hair whilst it is dry/drying otherwise the curls will seperate and the natural curl pattern is detroyed. i have curly hair and have to wash and style it every day. there is now way of sleeping on curly hair and having the style the next day.. you can try spitzing it with water in the morning to try get it to curl again but they dont hold for as long. It is a fact that curly hair can't be brushed while dry so carry around a product such as Secret Agent by John Frieda- Frizz ease to smooth your curls during the day.. i have naturally curly hair.. so does my mother and aunt.. neither of us really straighten it a lot so take my advice, i should know!! lol talk to your hair dresser, they'll tell you the same thing. =( it's annoying to have to constantly wash and style everyday. But u soon get used to the routine Xx

Listen to good charlie bad charlie, she's right lol! in GB it is called secret agent, but i think it's called whatever she said in America lol. Serum is really good too. don't even use a wide tooth comb, it still separates your curls- causing frizz

Curly Hair problem?

i would start taking a shower in the morning then if you dont want to sleep on your curls and when you get out of the shower towel dry as much as you can adn dont use gell either becuase it will make your hair heavey and your curls will weigh down, when you brush it use a wide comb and towl dry and also scrunch it, you can use your hands for the scrunching but you can do it with a towel to, also use a product called ringlet 07 and its made by REDKEN, just put some on your hands and just run your fingers through your hair and also scrunch some more, if your hair is still pretty wet scrunch with a towl to get some wetness out and to also keep the body in your hair, put in as much as you need to contol your hair and you should look gorgious

Curly Hair problem?

First of all, if your hair is really thick, I would suggest you thin it out at a salon or get your hair cut into layers.

You should buy marc anthony's Strictly Curls products, they keep the curl and eliminate the tangles and frizz. I have used these products for ever, and I'm really happy with the result. As soon as you come out of the shower, just brush your hair and apply the product.

For the sleeping-on-curls thing, buy a silk pillowcase and the Strictly Curls product should hold the curls bouncy.

If you feel you need a little more definition in your hair still, try twisting little pieces of your (wet) hair before you go to bed to keep the springyness.

Curly Hair problem?

1. Brush your hair while it is wet- this gets the tangles out and will not frizz like when it will when it is dry. After you brush i would advise putting in a type of curling styler ( ex. curl power or curling cream by big sexy hair- we sell this for less than $20 at the salon i work at) this will help eliminate the friz and keep the texture of the curls.

2. To avoid sleeping on the curls and having fresh curls i would take a shower in the morning ( the products mentioned allow you to towel dry-add product %26amp; go) but if that is not an option i would say either wet hair with a spray bottle and enter product in the morning or put your hair up in a braid or bun until you can style it in the morning.

ps: maybe consider getting you hair thinned out with a razor...this will eliminate some of the bulkiness (huge) an you can keep the length and bouncy spirals =) good luck

Curly Hair problem?

I have naturally curly hair, so I totally understand!

What I do, I TIE up my hair when I go to bed. I do a low ponytail. or a low bun, because ponytail's leave a wave. Brush it a little bit after you take a shower, then tie it up in a bun and go to sleep. I have done this for a long time and it works great! It keeps your curls tight and nice! If you are in a rush, DON'T leave your hair down. The moisture in the air affects your hair's frizziness! Trust me, I've done this. So... tie it up, and then let it free once in a while, but when you feel the frizziness coming back up, then tie it back again. So mostly, you should ALWAYS have a hair tie with you! Oh, and also, don't blow dry your hair. It makes it even MORE frizzier!

Curly Hair problem?

your hair is exactly like mine.

heres a pic.

annndddd

heres what i do.

i use extream moisturizing shampoo every other night, not every night, otherwise it gets too frizzy.

i use curl conditioner and let it sit in my hair for a couple of minutes.

i only comb my hair when i get out of the shower.

then i about a pingpong ball sized wad hand lotion on my hair [while its still kinda wet] and comb through my hair with my fingers before i got to bed.

when i wake up, its a jumbled mess.

first, spray a bit of detangler on it ends.

next, take a defrizzer and spread a decent amount of that on your big puffy mess we call hair. lol

then, take a curl boosting mousse and run it through your hair enough so you can gentlely run your fingers through it.

finally scruch it just a little.

it sounds like a lot of work, but really it isnt.

it takes me about ten minutes in the morning.

it wont look perfect at first but if you get the hang of it,

you will have amazingly defined, tight curls.

products i recomend:

*herbal essences totally twisted curl boosting mousse.

*herbal essences none of your frizzness smoothing leave in cream

i hope this helps!!!

email me if you want more ideas.

After awhile if some pices of hair dont curl to well curl them with a curler, trust me your hair will look amazing, mine is no longer poofy, frizzey, and annoying.

Curly Hair problem?

Curly Hair problem?

woah

lol

sorry i dont really know how 2 answer your question.

=]

GL

Curly Hair problem?

dont comb ur hair once its dried, itll make ur hair poofy. use mousse to gather curls or a curling serum. use a wide toothed comb to just get the worst of ur hair tamed.

i cant answer the second question. i honestly dont know
