What is the best way to clean a boar bristle hair brush?

Treat a natural bristle brush as you would your own hair... well kind of like it. When your brush starts looking dirty, it's time to clean it.

Use a comb to remove any hair that is caught in the brush. Fill the sink with warm water, add a little of your shampoo, and swish the brush around in the water. Alternately, you could put some shampoo in your hand, work up a thick lather, and then gently massage the lather thru the bristles. If necessary you can use another hair brush, or old toothbrush, to scrub thru the bristles. Rinse well with cool water. Shake the excess water from the brush and allow it to air dry on the counter.

In the salon we use Quats.....at home I use shampoo and another hairbrush and rub the bristles together....

Just use a mild shampoo in a basin warm water and make a lather using the brush that way you dissolve or the grease and gunk if you wash hair brush once a week you wont get to much of a build up on the bristles.
